ABUJA – Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, has blamed the slow space of the nation’s development on greed and corruption of past leaders who have stolen from government coffers the money they don’t need.
Elder Orubebe, who spoke as a guest speaker at a special anointing service,at the Prayer Link Evangelical Ministries Int’l, PLEM, in Abuja, said the only reason Nigeria had not moved forward was the fact that government upon government were ran by greedy people Ministering on the theme, “the God of possibilities”, Orubebe, who is the President and founder of Glory Sanctuary Christian Centre, said “this is the only country where people steal money they don’t need.”
Urging Christians to join politics as a way to effectively make the required change and transformation of the nation, Orubebe said “as a Christian, how can you say you are not going to play politics when God is the head of all politicians?”
Quoting from Isaiah 9;6, he said “unto us, a child is born and unto us a son is given and the government of this world shall be upon his shoulders; when God is the head of government, why will you not be part of government?”
The Minister, speaking philosophically to the congregation about the state of the nation and the Niger Delta, said God of all possibilities made no mistake in choosing Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as President to pilot the affairs of the nation 50 years after independence and over 50 years of oil explorations and exploitations in the Niger Delta.
Orubebe enjoined Christians the world over to imbibe the spirit of generosity and work hard to eliminate excessive competition for worldly things. He noted that it was only God who mades things happen as at when due and that him alone could lift a man from the dungeon and set him up on a pinnacle of success.
He further enjoined Christians to affiliate themselves with the nation’s political processes and adopt acceptable behaviours that would distinguish them at all times, wherever they found themselves.
The Minister said God Almighty had a plan for all his children and they must walk according to this plan to avoid being derailed in the journey of life. Taking the Congregation down memory lane about the life and time of Moses whom God used to lead the Israelite out of the land of Egypt, the Minister reiterated that it was only God who had the sole authority to choose who leads his people. He, therefore, advised Christians to always have faith in God.
