Following an earlier report by Vanguard of a mother who was declared missing with her two daughters by her family, it has now been disclosed that she fled in an attempt to protect her daughter against the act of circumcision, commonly-known as Female Genital Mutilation.
Adefisayo Omobola Adeagbo fled her home, abandoning her husband and home in an attempt to go against the tradition of circumcising her
first daughter Ireoluwamitide who has become eligible for circumcision after she turns four years old.
The mother of 2 was earlier reported missing and contact details put out for anyone with useful information of her whereabouts. She disappeared from her home in November 2017 and her whereabouts is still not known.
The family still wants the tradition carried out as soon as possible because female circumcision has been their practice and culture from generations and will continue.
They believe if this is not done it will cause a lot of calamities and misfortune for the family. A source who spoke to this journalist explained that Adefisayo didn’t know it was a practice her husband’s family engaged in until she was told that her first daughter who turned 4 years old has become eligible for circumcision.
All Attempt to reach the husband has failed has he’s said to have gone into hiding out of fear of his family.
