NIGERIAN workers the 36 states and Abuja, as well as all the sectors of the nation’s economy, last week re-elected incumbent President of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar and former Vanguard Newspapers’ Assistant Labour Editor, Comrade Joseph Ajaero, among others into the16 members National Administrative Council of the congress for the next four years.

Comrade Ajaero who is the current General Secretary of the National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, was elected Deputy President of NLC alongside Comrade Promise Adewusi, and Comrade Shuaib Kiri Mohammed

While Comrade Adewusi is the incumbent President of the Senior Staff of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, Comrade Mohammed is the President of Nigeria Civil Service Union, NCSU.

Announcing the results of the election, former President of NLC, Comrade Ali Chiroma said Comrade Adewusi scored the highest vote in the Deputy President election with a total of 1, 349 votes, Comrade Ajaero scored 1, 337, while Comrade Kiri, the national president of the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) scored 1, 260 to emerged as deputy presidents.

For the Vice President positions, Comrade Issa Aremu, general secretary of Textile Union scored 1, 524, Comrade Lawal Hussaini (NANNM) scored 1, 195, Comrade Anthony Emmanuel (Maritime) scored 1, 152, and Comrade Emmanuel Ajoku (AUPCTRE) scored 1, 139 to win the four available positions, while Comrade Lateef Oyelekan (NUFBTE) scored 567 to lose out.

Comrade Ayuba Wabba (Medical Health Union) returned unopposed as the treasurer, while Comrade Bomiface Isok (NUCFRLANMPE) scored 1, 228 to emerge the winner for the post of deputy national treasurer and Comrade Leke Success lost, scoring 511votes.

Comrade Achese Igwe (NUPENG) scored 1, 400 to emerge as the trustee, defeating Comrade Ola Elijah who scored 558 votes.

For the post of national auditors Comrade Samuel Adeoye (NUCECFWW) scored 1, 422, Comrade Abdullahi Bungudu (AAEUN) 1, 411, and Comrade Danjuma Kunini (NUPPPROW) 1, 404 to be elected while Comrade Alhassan Sunday (NUPTE) scored 603.

Comrade Amina Danesi (ASSIBIFI) scored 1, 1415, and Comrade Sarah Gana (NUCSSASw) scored 1, 1412 to emerge ex-officio defeating Comrade Coretta Balogun (RATTAWU) who scored 583.

Comrade Ajaero Joseph (NUEE) and Comrade Shuaib Kiri Mohammed won the three available Deputy President positions.
