ABIA State chapter of the opposition group, CNPP, has blamed the problem of underdevelopment of the state on the ruling PDP, saying the group wishes the party dead as it has left the state worse than it met it.

CNPP described the PDP government in the state as a “total failure”, saying  its leadership is presently consulting and assessing the candidates in the various opposition parties with a view to rallying support for one of them as a way of dislocating PDP in the state.

At a press briefing in Umuahia, Abia State chairman of CNPP, Prince Henry Atuloma, said the PDP has failed the people of the state, saying the people are praying for the death of the party so that Abia can move forward.

“PDP is the problem of Abia State. They are a total failure, we wish them dead so that Abians can have chance to move the state forward”, Atuloma said.

According to him, CNPP would soon zero in on one of the candidates of the opposition parties with a view to throwing its support behind such a candidate. He however, said that none of them has been selected yet as the group is still assessing the candidates.

Atuloma who announced that the state branch of CNPP is solidly supporting the presidential ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan, however dismissed the issue of zoning at both national and state levels.

Specifically, he condemned the zoning formula in Abia, saying the much talked about Abia Charter of Equity has not worked and that it will never work.
