Students of Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-uku are groaning under deficient facilities as they lacked some basic infrastructures required for good teaching and learning, Essentially they have been complaining about difficulty in receiving lectures.

The school grapples with poor infrastructure, like lack of classrooms for students. In a class that is meant for not more than 150 students, between 200-400 choke themselves to receive lecture.

In an interview, a student, said students have to wake up early as 4am in the morning to prepare for classes so that they will be able to be in the classroom before it gets filled up with students. Failure to wake up on time will result to standing outside to receive lecture.

Some students that managed to get in will be seen standing to receive lecture because the class is too small and no chairs to sit on. She also said that due to the lack of chairs and buildings, some students will be hanging around the premises doing nothing when lecture is going on. Such situations some time lead some of them into bad association, and also making them to lack behind other students from different schools who are ahead academically.

The polytechnic lacked good roads, if it rains the entrance of the school gate becomes filled with water, no drainage for water to flow within the school premises thereby leading to erosion.

No hostels in the school, students have to look for suitable places to stay and they spend a lot of money to get a house outside the school.

Lack of offices for the staff, a lecturer that is suppose to be in the Business

Administration office will be found in the Fine and Applied Art.

There are no adequate sporting facilities to develop talent in events like football, table tennis, long jump, volley ball, running, and other indoor and oudoort games.

The school also has an adequate workshop but lacked instruments or equipment that are functioning.

The library also lacked reading materials and research books, broadcasting studio for mass comm students that is not functioning because there are no sound instruments like microphones, speakers, etc.
