Okonkwo emerges PDP candidate for Anambra Central senatorial race

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  National Exco-supervised Anambra primaries’ elections that saw Senator Annie Okonkwo emerge winner amidst formidable opponents, had been commended as transparent, fair and credible.

Making the commendation is Mr Romeo Anyisia, the Director of Operations,  Senator Annie Campaign Organisation and president-general, Ojoto Town Development Union.

Mr Anyisia, who spoke while trying to contain the surging youths and women celebrating the emergence of Senator Okonkwo as Anambra Central senatorial district flag bearer at Emmaus House Complex, Awka, during the PDP primaries weekend, noted that “the joy of these people is simply a clear evidence that even in politics, a good product markets itself.

“Senator Okonkwo is no doubt a people’s senator, whose grassroots’ commitment and dedication became the springboard for PDP rebound after all these festering years of the locusts in Anambra State.”

Anyisia clarified that in politics, as in religion, there must be consistency of faith in belief and principles, noting that Senator  Okonkwo had demonstrated the most sacrificial sense of loyalty and dedication to PDP in Anambra State than anyone else.

“So, it is no surprise that he is the only sitting senator that has so far got the nod to return unhindered. And that to me and our supporters, this is fair, logical and persuasive,” he said.

Meanwhile, as the mood of celebration spreads across Anambra Central district and beyond, the senator is believed to have quietly returned to his war room to plot winning strategies for the general elections. This is probably as a result of what is widely believed will be the most popularly contested senate seat in the country, following the wish of Professor Dora Akunyili, a former Minister in President Goodluck Jonathan’s cabinet to unseat him on ther platform of APGA.
