Oluwakemi Obe, a widow and primary school teacher, has emerged winner of the $10, 000 grand prize of Airtel’s MAMA trivia competition.

The mother of five emerged winner on the final draw of the promo which was conducted in Lagos and supervised by leading system and process auditors, TCQ Associates.

Speaking about her winning, the 50 year old mother who could not hide her joy said, she has been passing through financial difficulties raising her five children alone since the death of her husband, about fifteen years ago.

She said with her win, she would no longer have to worry about what to eat anymore. “I would not suffer again,” she exclaimed saying that as a teacher in public school, she has not handled such money in her life.

Mrs Obe revealed that she had almost given up participating in the promo but for her children who urged her to continue in the promo. She however, said that she would use the money to set up a business, and would open to advice on how best to spend the winnings.

Presenting the prize to the star winner, Chief Executive Officer, Airtel Nigeria, Mr Rajan Swaroop, said the company introduced the promo to give its customers the opportunity to participate in MAMA with Airtel.

According to him, the MAMA trivia promo, which was a run-up to the MTV Africa Music Awards with Airtel commenced on November 16, 2010 and ended on December 8. Twenty-three people emerged winners of the $6, 000 prize. Some of them include: Mr. Ifeanyi Ahuzuru, a plastic trader resident in Ondo State; Mrs. Zudaida Audu, a Katsina based tailor; Mr. Shadrach Anor, a student of Government Secondary School, Calabar and Mr. Lawal Lukeman, a 35 year old resident of Ikorodu, Lagos, among others.

Apart from cash prizes, some winners won VIP tickets to watch the MAMAs Award live while some won N20, 000 worth of complementary airtime.

Meanwhile, it will be recalled that Airtel customers participated in the promo by sending their names to a short code, 6262 with each text costing N100.
