ONE time Minister of Power and Steel, Mr. Wole Oyelese, has joined the 2011 governorship race in Oyo State, saying that the era of handpicking persons in the state was over.
Oyelese, who obtained the party’s nomination form and expression of interest to be the next governor of the state, said that he had nothing personal against Governor Alao-Akala but that his concern is based on the welfare of the people of the state.
He said: “If as they claim, Governor Akala has done his best, then that best is not good enough for the people of Oyo State. We deserve much more.”
The PDP chieftain also said he has no doubt that the wish of the electorate would be reflected in the result of the 2011 elections in Oyo State.
Oyelese said he opted to test his popularity at the polls because of the overwhelming request of his supporters all over Oyo State to actualise his mission of establishing a government based on the fear of God and centred on the welfare of all the people.
“We shall run a masses-friendly and labour-friendly government and one that recognises the God-granted majesty of our royal fathers,” he added.
And accord them their deserved honour. We shall create an enabling environment for an all round human and material resources development.
The successful indigenes of the state will be encouraged to further succeed while the struggling and helpless ones will be given the opportunity to make it in life.”
