REPRIEVE, Wednesday, came the way of the 27 soldiers who were jailed for mutiny by a court martial as they were formally freed and moved out of prisons.

The earlier convicted soldiers who protested alleged mismanagement of their peace keeping mission allowances had been pardoned by the Nigerian Army authority.

An impeccable source told Vanguard that the freed soldiers arrived at the Kuje prison, Abuja around 1am on Wednesday.

While pleading with the army authority which he described as being benevolent to reinstate the soldiers, Mr. Peters Ike Adonu who is one of the counsel to the soldiers, explained that the soldiers left Kuje Prison around 12 noon to the army Headquarter, Abacha Barracks.

Vanguard also gathered that the soldiers were addressed by the Garrison Commander especially on the conclusion by the Army Council to pardon them.

As at now, the soldiers have been given three weeks leave and would later report at their various units to claim their benefits.
