President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Aminu Maigari has hinted that the case reported to the Court of Arbitration for Sports, CAS, by his predecessor, Sani Abdullahi Lulu, Amanze Uchegbulam and Taiwo Ogunjobi will soon be settled amicably.

Although the NFF boss admitted the football house was aware of the deadline given by CAS for them to respond to the representations by the trio, he assured the case was “an internal matter that will soon be settled.”

Said he, “I am assuring you that it is an internal affair, we are working for settlement and we don’t want to make noise about this. That is the much I can say on that,” Maigari said.

The immediate past president of the NFF, Sani Abdullahi Lulu, his first vice, Amanze Uchegbulam and former head of the technical committee, Taiwo Ogunjobi who were impeached in August had taken the board to CAS with complaints of “wrongful removal from office,” and wanted their names cleared of the allegations of abuse of office, corruption and mismanagement of funds.

CAS had in response written to the NFF requesting for a reply to the complaints from the former bord members, giving the football house a ten day deadline.

Maigari however, stated that the other court case against the NFF by a Lagos-based  lawyer over the legal status of the board was not clear to him.

“We are also aware of that case, but I do not know what they want. Until we are given a better advise on the issue I have nothing to say about that,” Maigari emphasised, pointing out that “we believe in the sanctity of the court. We are waiting for a clearer picture as I have just returned to the country.”
