The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), has concluded plans to reward a select group of local manufacturers for the consistency of their products in meeting specified requirements of applicable Nigerian Industrial Standards (NIS) during the 2010 Nigerian Quality/World Standards Day celebrations.
A statement from the office of the Director-General of SON, Dr. John Akanya, noted that the celebration, scheduled to hold in Abuja, would include a walk for standards involving various stakeholders to be jointly flagged-off by Senator Kamorudeen Adedibu and Mr. Solomon Agidani, chairmen of the Senate and House of Representatives committees on industry respectively.
According to him, the walk would commence at the Millennium Park through various parts of the city and terminate at the City Fun Flex Park Wuse, in the nation’s capital.
Dr. Akanya stated that the activities would be rounded-off with an award winners’ dinner and presentation of certificates and medallions with the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Chief Jubril Martins-Kuye, and his Federal Capital Territory counterpart, Senator Bala Mohammed, as special guests of honour while the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Ms. Josephine Tapgun, is the chief host.
