Opposition rank swells as PDP loses 3 senators to ACN, CPC

By Inalegwu Shaibu

ABUJA—THE number of senators on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly was reduced by three yesterday as Senators, Umar Argungu, (Kebbi), Adego Eferakaya, (Delta) and Joel Danlami, (Taraba), decamped from the PDP to join opposition parties.

While Senator Argungu decamped to Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Senators Eferakaya and Danlami joined Action Congress of Nigeria, thus marginally swelling the opposition rank.

The decamping senators in show that portrays a change in the trend of decamping at the Senate averred that the PDP in their various states was embroiled in crisis, prompting their change of parties.

Senator Danlami, whose letter was first read by Senate President, Senator David Mark, told the senate that he had to leave the PDP because of the undemocratic tendencies of the state chairman of the PDP in Taraba State.
