UGHELLI — THE  Delta State House of Assembly, has called for the revocation of the contract for Faculty of Law building in Oleh campus of the state University, saying that the contractor lacked the capacity to execute the project.

Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Mr. Daniel Mayuku, who stated this during an inspection tour of the state government  projects, said the Faculty of Law building in the Oleh campus was of great priority to the state government.

He lamented that after eight months of the award of the contract, work at the project site was still at zero level and urged the state Ministry of Higher Education to commence the process for the revocation of the N300 million contract and re-award it to a more serious contractor.

At the Faculty of Engineering, Mayuku expressed concern over the delay in the payment of the contractor for the level of work done so far, disclosing that the money was provided for in the 2010 budget. He directed the state Ministry of Higher Education to facilitate the payment to enable the contractor go back to site.

According to him, the completion of the project would pave way for the accreditation of the faculty. Fielding questions from newsmen, Mr. Abel Oshevire, member representing the area at the state House of Assembly and member of the Committee, commended the idea behind the project for the control of flood in Ughelli metropolis.

Oshevire expressed hope that the project would be completed on time, adding that when completed, it would check the perennial flood problem being faced by people of the area.
