Construction work continues – Fashola

By Daniel Eteghe
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State yesterday assured Lagosians that his administration would not stop the ongoing construction and reconstruction of major roads across the state.

Speaking to newsmen at the presidential wing of the Murtala Mohammed Airport Lagos, Governor Fashola stressed that his administration had never stopped in the construction of roads ever since it began construction when he was elected as the governor of the state.

He said: “We never stopped during the rain. We just told you that it was difficult to continue, it was not efficient. There were wastages and there was inefficiency, but nonetheless we could never have stopped and we won’t stop.“

He, however, noted that major repairs were going on during the heavy rain fall, adding that now that the rain was over that the situation would get better as it would be easier to manufacture the ingredients which would invariably boost and make the production of the materials for the construction work much more efficient.

The Governor further said that with all these necessary requirements in place that he was sure that Lagos would be transformed into a magnificent city to meet up with other cities of the world.

Meanwhile Goveror Fashola noted that he has been appointed to head the committee of the governor’s forum that would deal with the succession of its leadership stressing that the committee would make sure that all its leaders were elected through a credible and democratic process.

“You can expect at least the minimum from us that there will be a very credible and democratic process involving our own leadership, if we are leaders in our states, we should be able to show that leadership by ensuring that the process by which our body is led is democratically complied“ he added.
