Afromedia Plc, a quoted Out-Of-Home, OOH, company on the floors of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, celebrates 50 years, as it rewards long service.  Speaking, Akin Ire Olopade, Group Managing Director of Afromedia said the company is committed to improving the quality of life of the people.

“For various reasons, we have been silent on this aspect of our business, until recently when we came up with the anniversary theme ‘Going Green’.”
The Going Green initiative, he continued  is more than skin deep. “We are absolutely committed to delivering on our promises of positively affecting lives. To drive this commitment, we are partnering with some government agencies to fast-track the implementation of sound policies to promote the development of green energy projects in Nigeria. The objective being to arrest the danger and threats posed by climate change in the country.”

The Group Managing Director stated that in line with Going Green initiative and as the company’s contribution towards attaining the UN’s target of 7billion trees worldwide in 2010.

“We intend to plant at least 1,000 trees Pan Nigeria. The sites are already selected and the exercise will commence soon.”

The Group Managing Director also disclosed that as part of the company’s tradition and in line with the Going Green initiative, he pointed out that Afromedia billboard sites would be kept clean and neat.

He also pointed out that the company is championing the use of alternative source of energy – using solar energy to provide power for its outdoor signage.
On the other hand, employees who have served the company between 10 to 25 years were rewarded in commomeration with the 50th year anniversary of the company
According to Olopade, “shining like a thousand stars are the winner of the ‘Long Service Award’. “This award is by no other means well deserved.
