IBADAN — THE Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr. Musah Abdulwasi, yesterday, described his purported expulsion from the All Progressives Congress, APC, as not only laughable but also negates all principles of democratic doctrine.

He, however, denied his defection from the ruling APC to the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

The Deputy Speaker said: “Article 21 (A) of the party’s constitution, Sub Article B (2) B (3) clearly states what constitutes an offence and series of steps to be strictly adhered to before any member of the party can be either suspended or expelled.

“It is recommended that the signatories to the purported letter of expulsion endeavour to study relevant sections of our party’s Constitution in making future decisions, as they are to be exemplary to other party members.

“The Deputy Speaker, who is still a financial member of the party till date, has not committed any act of insubordination or perform any action as spelled out by the Party’s Constitution in Article 21 to warrant the laughable decision.

“We recommend that the signatories to the purported letter of expulsion endeavour to study relevant Sections of our Party’s Constitution in making future decisions, as they are to be exemplary to other party members.”

“Owing to the foregoing, we state unequivocally that the purported expulsion is null and void to the extent that it falls short of the minimum requirements of the laws.”

Meanwhile, a non-governmental organisation, ‘Saki Movement for good Governance,’ has described the act as unacceptable.

Chairman of the movement, Mr. Salami Sefiu said: “We wish to inform the general public that the satanic suspension did not reflect the wish of our people in Saki West Constituency and Oke-Ogun in General.”

“Conclusively, while we will not dwell on the obvious illegality of the purported expulsion, we wish to warn, strongly for that matter that the illegality is reversed within the next 7 days, otherwise the party will experience an unprecedented tsunami in Saki West.”
