*As c’ttee appoints protem officers

ABEOKUTA—THE campaign for President Goodluck Jonathan in the South-West took off yesterday with the campaign team holding its first meeting to set up committees to map out strategies for its success at the 2011 polls.

The meeting which was presided over by Governor Gbenga Daniel, had in attendance Governors Adebayo Alao-Akala, Oyo, Segun Oni, Ekiti, Olugbenga Daniel, Ogun, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Osun and former Governor Olusegun Agagu.

Others are Mr. Olusegun Aganga, former Deputy Governor of Ekiti; Mrs. Abiodun Olujimi, Senator Yinka Omilani, Ambassador to Ghana; Chief Musiliu Obanikoro, Chief Wahab Dosumu, former Minister of Work; Chief Adeseye Ogunlewe, Chief Rafiu Jafojo, Chief Femi Pedro and Mrs. Ayoka Lawani amongst several others.

Addressing the meeting, Governor Daniel, said the decision of the South West to support President Jonathan had clearly changed the political game and that other geo-political zones were also falling in line to support him.

A communiqué issued after the meeting by Governor Olugbenga Daniel and eight others, announced the appointment of protem officers for the zone and they include as spokesman; Prince Dayo Adeyeye (Ekiti), Finance; Otunba Funsho Lawal (Oyo), Contact/ Mobilization; Chief Dapo Sarumi (Lagos), Publicity; Mr. Ayo Aluko-Olokun (Osun), Women Affairs; Mrs. Oladunni Odu (Ondo), Youth Affairs; Prince Segun Ilori (Ekiti) and Secretary; Mr. Lekan Odulate (Ogun).

“The meeting also set up a six-man committee on the interest of the South -West,headed by Otunba Solomon Oladunni while other members are: Chief A.B. Ogunlade OFR (Ekiti), Hon. Michael Akinfenwa (Oyo), Dr. Mrs. Ayo Badejo (Osun), Chief Kolapo Ogunjobi (Ogun), Senator Kofo Bucknor Akerele (Lagos) and Mrs. Ayoka Lawani (Executive Secretary). The meeting will reconvene in the next two weeks.
