NSE market capitalisation and index shed 0.10%

The declining trend on the Nigerian Stock Exchange heightened, Tuesday, as the market indicators for measuring the performance indices the Capitalisation and the All share index both dropped by 0.10 per cent each.

Specifically, the capitalisation dipped by N5.54 billion to close at N50600 trillion from N5.606 trillion at which it opened, while the index dipped by 22.62 bases points to close at 22,856.71 points from 22,879.33 points.

Mobil Oil Plc led on the losers table dropping by N7.04 to close at N133.89 per share, Conoil Plc followed with a loss of N1.62 to close at N39.00 per share and Glaxo Smithkline Consumer Plc N1.45 to close at N27.55 per share.

Other share price losers include: Nigerian Breweries Plc N1.29, Ashaka Cement Plc N1.02, International Breweries Plc N0.32, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc N0.27, National Salt Company Nigeria Plc N0.24, May and Baker Nigeria Plc N0.23, Dangote Flour Mills Plc N0.20, among others.

On the contrary, Oando Plc led on the gainers table with a gain of N2.60 to close at N57.05 per share, Lafarge Cement WAPCO Plc followed with a gain of N1.00 to close at N39.00 per share and Benue Cement Company Plc garnered N0.67 to close at N64.80 per share..

Other share price gainers include: Flour Mills Nigeria Plc N0.61, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc N0.31, Diamond Bank Plc N0.19, Zenith Bank Plc N0.16, Red Star Express Plc N0.13, Longman Nigeria Plc N0.11, Starcomms Plc N0.08, among others.

Equity trading declined by 20.97 per cent as a turnover of 200.53 million shares valued at N1.58 billion was recorded in 6,646 deals, in contrast to the previous day’s turnover of 253.73 million shares valued at N1.89 billion in deals.

The Banking sub-sector dominated activities of the other sector on the sectorial analysis accounting for 118.98 million shares valued at N944.63 million in 3,766 deals. United Bank for Africa Plc was the most active in the sub-sector trading 19.23 million shares valued at N166.69 million in 308 deals, First Bank of Nigeria Plc followed with the exchange of 17.44 million shares valued at N202.43 million in 916 deals and Zenith Bank Plc recorded 14.18 million shares valued at N184.01 million in 627 deals.

The Insurance sub-sector followed on the sectorial analysis accounting for per cent of the market turnover with 23.19 million shares valued at N13.54 million in 183 deals.
