Love, respect one another, Edo Speaker charges assembly staff

The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Prince) Yekini Idaiye, has called on members and staff of the Assembly to show love and mutual respect to one another, regardless of age or position, in the discharge of their duties.

Prince Idaiye made the call at the monthly prayer session held at the State Assembly Complex in Benin City.

He advised staff to always respect the elderly and sustain cordial relationships with their colleagues and superiors.

The Speaker appreciated the staff for their support, reaffirmed his open-door policy, and encouraged them to approach him for any official or personal concerns for prompt attention.

He further advised staff not to allow fear or life’s challenges to discourage them from fulfilling their responsibilities, charging them to be bold and professional in the discharge of their duties. He noted that boldness was key to enhancing productivity and legislative efficiency.

The prayer session, which was attended by staff of the Assembly, was anchored by Pastor Okonofua Peter, while Rev. Chris Igbinijesu and Pastor Patrick Idubor offered prayers for the Speaker, members and leadership of the House.

Delivering a sermon titled “Fear Not,” Rev. Mrs. Ekhator Fadeke admonished members and staff not to allow fear, anxiety and worry to dictate their lives.

She urged them to remain strong and confident in God’s promises, even in the face of life’s challenges.
