ABUJA — Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the 2027 election, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has congratulated Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, on his 92nd birthday, describing him as a living legend whose contributions continue to inspire generations across Nigeria, Africa and the world.
In a goodwill message marking the occasion, Adebayo said Soyinka remains a symbol of courage, integrity, intellectual excellence and an unwavering commitment to justice and human dignity.
He noted that Africa’s first Nobel Laureate in Literature had distinguished himself through decades of literary accomplishments, principled advocacy and steadfast defence of truth, freedom and democratic ideals.
According to Adebayo, Soyinka’s moral authority and enduring voice have continued to provide guidance at critical moments in Nigeria’s history.
He described the elder statesman as the conscience of the nation, whose life demonstrates that nation-building requires sacrifice, courage and ethical leadership.
Adebayo further said Soyinka’s legacy transcends national boundaries and generations, adding that his contributions to literature, democracy and social justice have earned him global recognition and respect.
He prayed for the nonagenarian’s continued good health, strength and peace, expressing hope that Nigeria, Africa and the world would continue to benefit from his wisdom and experience.
“Your extraordinary life has been a beacon of courage, intellect, integrity and unwavering commitment to justice,” Adebayo said.
“As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, I pray that Almighty God grants you continued good health, renewed strength, peace of mind and many more years of impactful service to Nigeria, Africa and humanity.”
He wished the Nobel Laureate a happy 92nd birthday, saying his wisdom and legacy would continue to inspire future generations.
