The Kogi State Government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to the development of sports, with assurances of continued support for Kogi United Football Club under the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, gave the assurance while receiving a commendation award from the management and players of Kogi United FC at his office in Lokoja.

Hon. Anyebe stated that both Kogi United FC and Confluence Queens FC would continue to benefit from the present administration’s backing, noting that sustained investment in sports remains a key priority of the Ododo-led government. According to him, the administration is determined to harness sports as a tool for youth development and social advancement across the state.

He expressed appreciation to the club’s management and players for the recognition, describing the award as a motivation to further strengthen efforts toward the growth of football in Kogi State. The Commissioner added that with the Governor’s continued support, the clubs are well-positioned to achieve greater success.

Earlier, the Team Manager of Kogi United FC, Mr. Olachene Itodo Michael, said the award was in recognition of Hon. Anyebe’s dedication and proactive leadership, which he noted has significantly contributed to the club’s progress both within the state and nationally.

He commended the Commissioner’s performance as commendable and also expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for his consistent support toward the development of the team.

In a similar vein, the Team Manager of Confluence Queens FC, Mrs. Tosi Tolorunlonke, lauded the administration’s efforts, stating that both clubs have benefited from improved support and attention. She assured that the teams would continue to strive for excellence and make the state proud.

The award presentation ceremony was attended by members of the Kogi United technical crew and players.
