LAGOS 2027: Coalition urges smart voting, throws weight behind Hamzat

Grassroots coalition, KOHmmunity, has said there is a need to sustain Lagos State’s developmental trajectory and ensure experienced governance.

The coalition, which said over 5,000 residents in Lagos had signed up on its membership registration website, urged the electorate to vote wisely because the policies of the next administration would directly affect their businesses and their children’s futures.

The citizen-led movement has also vowed to galvanise statewide support for the governorship aspirations of Dr Obafemi Hamzat.

Speaking on the decision, one of the early conveners facilitating the forum’s structural framework, Dr Lanre Ajibade, said: “The stakes for our society have never been higher. Lagos is at a critical juncture. We are not just a conventional support base; we see ourselves as the catalysts of a tested and trusted blueprint. KOHmmunity is built on the reality that the future of Lagos demands leadership deeply rooted in competence, experience, and innovation.”

Textile merchant, Mrs Folashade Ajayi, who coordinates a local KOHmmunity cell in Idumota, said: “We are not waiting for traditional politicians to come and solicit our votes. We are organising ourselves because we understand that the policies of the next administration will directly affect our businesses and our children’s futures. We are rallying behind a vision we believe will translate into tangible progress for everyday Lagosians.”

Meanwhile, in recent weeks, this group’s footprint has expanded rapidly. Observers note a highly coordinated yet decentralised strategy, with activation cells springing up across various wards in the state and digital spaces alike. Market traders are weaving the group’s message of economic stability into daily commerce, university students are driving campus sensitisation campaigns and young professionals are dominating social media with issue-based, data-driven advocacy.
