AThe NDIGBO FOR TINUBU 2027 FORUM (NDI-ABAT) has called on the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, to moderate his public statements regarding the outcome of the last presidential poll.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the group expressed concern that continued public debate over the 2023 election results could heighten political tension as the country gradually approaches the 2027 general elections.

The forum advised political leaders and their supporters to exercise caution in their comments, noting that Nigeria’s political environment requires responsible engagement to sustain peace and stability.

NDI-ABAT, a coalition of Igbo groups, also urged all stakeholders to rely on lawful and constitutional channels in addressing electoral grievances, emphasizing the role of the courts and relevant institutions in resolving disputes arising from elections.

The statement, signed by its National Coordinator, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and Secretary General, Dr. Ugwuoke Ugwuoke Jr., encouraged issue-based political discourse and called for restraint in rhetoric that could be misinterpreted by supporters.

While reiterating its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections, the group stressed the need for unity, peaceful coexistence, and respect for democratic processes.

It further appealed to political actors across party lines to promote national cohesion and avoid statements that could deepen divisions among citizens.
