APC chieftain hails Omo-Agege over successful rally to declare senatorial interest

By Efe Onodjae

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Onotu Henry Okechukwu has congratulated Olorogun Ovie Omo-Agege, on his declaration of interest to seek election for the 2027 Senatorial bid, describing him as one of the best politicians Nigeria has ever produced adding that the people of Ndokwa nation will never forget his giant strides while he held sway at 9th Senate even though the Ndokwa/Ukwani Federal Constituency falls under a different senatorial district in Delta State.

Onotu, an avowed supporter of the former Deputy Senate President, made this statement message on Saturday in Asaba, the Delta capital, adding that the mammoth crowd that witnessed the politician’s declaration at Orogun, Ughelli North Local Government Area of the oil-rich state is a testament to the popularity of Senator Omo-Agege, adding that the former maker’s crowd was way beyond what a gubernatorial candidate could gather.

According to the Ukwani-born Onotu Okechukwu, “Such goodwill expressed by the large turn up of well wishers, supporters across the State for a senatorial declaration has never been seen in the state since it was created in 1991.”

“Ovie Omo-Agege no doubt took representing of the people beyond the ordinary,” Okechukwu said stressing “it goes that the popularity of the lawmaker transcends the predominantly Urhobo speaking people of the State,” saying, “With what happened at the declaration, Omo-Agege is on his way back to the Senate unfettered.”

“The Orogun-born Senator,” Onotu said, “During the 9th Senate brought empowerment, human and infrastructure development to the people” and this, the Umutu high Chief noted “Has contributed to the show of love by the masses of Deltans,” who he said, “Have unflinching organic followership for Omo-Agege.”

Omo-Agege

He said, the mammoth crowd that greeted the declaration is a reminder to the good work Omo-Agege did while he held sway at the Senate saying, “He took representation beyond the Delta central into other Senatorial districts of Delta South and North particularly Ndokwa nation the achievements are there for all to see,” adding “he has been tested and trusted while his opponent was tested and his people are worse for it.”

“The establishment of the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences in Kwale, the headquarters of Ndokwa West, stands a signature project that he (Omo-Agege) made possible being a visionary leader who stands for the voiceless in the society,” saying “Such has never happened in the history of the Nigerian State where a senator will attract infrastructure development to another senatorial district selflessly for the sake of humanity.”

“Additionally,” Okechukwu noted “Throughout Omo-Agege’s tenure at the Senate, he ensured that all the age-long grievances of the people of Ndokwa nation were addressed, particularly his Alma Mater, the Saint George’s Grammar School, Obinumba, one of the flagship secondary school institution received a priority attention coupled with providing electricity in many communities across Ndokwa/Ukwani Federal Constituency.

He went further to call on the electorates of the Delta Central Senatorial district not relent on their support for the Senator, who demystified poor representation in the district to make life better for them saying the lawmaker’s achievements are littered everywhere in the district, adding that it was by the efforts of the 2027 Senatorial hopeful that many communities could boast of road, power and educational infrastructure everywhere in the Urhobo speaking areas of the state as he referenced the:

“Federal Polytechnic, Orogun that the deputy Senate President brought including the establishment of a National Defence Space School; and secured a state-of-the-art oil and gas industrial park in Urhoboland to create jobs and boost local content just as he rehabilitated and modernised healthcare centres, set up ICT hubs in schools, rebuilt schools, reopened and constructed landing bays for riverine commerce, and improved electricity with transformers and solar streetlights. He delivered empowerment initiatives that moved families from survival to stability amongst many other giant strides.”

“These,” Okechukwu noted, “Are the essentials of true representative partnership: understanding how Abuja works and evolving ideas that practically benefit the people who sent him there as a guardian of their interests.”

“Omo-Agege has the interest of his people at heart. He’s such a person to whom the day-to-day life of the people of Urhobo nation matters. There were communities in Urhoboland that had never seen electricity in their villages and clans since creation that Omo-Agege gave solar light and transformers. His human empowerment drive was top-notch while he was in the Senate because he knows the needs of his people. He’s a grassroot man as against the elitist representation the people suffer currently.

“The people owe it a duty to give Omo-Agege their mandate in 2027,” Onotu Okechukwu stated as he called on Deltans to ensure they do not relent in their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term bid, explaining “The President has proven to be a trusted leader with vision and mission to remove the country from the woods.”
