…opens news chapter for global partnership
Following the widely acclaimed success of TwinsFest 2025, Africa’s definitive celebration of twins, multiple births, and humanitarian heritage is officially transitioning into its next growth phase with preparations underway for a bold and expanded TwinsFest 2026.
The 2025 edition, held from 2th to 4th December in Uyo, reaffirmed Akwa Ibom State’s historic and cultural identity as the spiritual home of twin heritage while positioning TwinsFest as a globally relevant cultural and humanitarian platform.
Over three impactful days, the festival convened communities, cultural institutions, government stakeholders, creatives, and international visitors in a shared celebration of life, memory, and humanity.
At the heart of TwinsFest remains the enduring legacy of Mary Slessor, whose fearless humanitarian intervention altered history by ending the killing of twins in the region.
The 2025 edition powerfully reintroduced this story through an emotionally resonant historical re-enactment that transcended performance, serving instead as a collective remembrance and moral compass for future generations.
One of the defining moments of TwinsFest 2025 was the Seven-Continent Cultural Parade, an unprecedented cultural expression that symbolized the universal presence of twins across civilizations.
This moment firmly positioned TwinsFest beyond a regional festival—elevating it into a global cultural statement rooted in Africa but resonating worldwide.
With over 10,000 physical attendees, extensive broadcast exposure, and strong digital engagement, TwinsFest 2025 demonstrated its capacity as a scalable platform for tourism promotion, cultural diplomacy, and brand visibility.
Importantly, the festival’s humanitarian mandate translated into direct impact.
Selected twin families received structured financial empowerment, reinforcing the festival’s philosophy that celebration must lead to transformation.
This commitment was further institutionalized through the launch of the Mary Slessor Heritage and Humanitarian Trust Fund, a landmark initiative designed to ensure year-round intervention, advocacy, and long-term social impact.
The Trust Fund represents a strategic evolution of TwinsFest—from an annual event into a sustainable movement anchored on heritage preservation, family empowerment, and humanitarian responsibility.
The Organizing Committee acknowledges the pivotal role played by its 2025 partners, including Champion Breweries PLC and Zenith Bank PLC, whose support enabled the delivery of a world-class experience. Profound appreciation is also extended to the Akwa Ibom State Government, particularly the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, for its continued collaboration and belief in TwinsFest as a cultural asset of international relevance.
As preparations commence for TwinsFest 2026, the festival is opening its doors wider—to brands, institutions, development partners, and global organizations seeking alignment with a platform defined by heritage, humanity, impact, and visibility.
The 2026 edition is being designed as a larger, more immersive experience with expanded programming, increased international participation, deeper humanitarian interventions, and enhanced media integration.
