Healthcare organisation gives free screenings to Lekki residents

Residents of Lekki received free medical services at a community outreach organized by CrownBak Health Medical Clinic and Laboratory. Held at Unit 44, E-Mart Plaza on Orchid Road, the event offered blood sugar tests for the first 50 attendees, blood pressure checks, BMI assessments, free doctor consultations, and health education talks.

The CEO, CrownBak, Dr. Adewunmi Bakare, said “We are happy to create this awareness to the community, build trust, and provide much-needed preventive healthcare services. We believe that health is wealth and we want this community to live healthy”.

Dr. Bakare said, “The whole idea was to introduce CrownBak Health properly to the community, offer free checkups, and start building trust. The vision was solid, but honestly, the turnout didn’t match our expectations. We still achieved some visibility within the plaza, but we didn’t get the wider reach we expected.” Despite a smaller-than-expected crowd, the impact on those who attended was significant. Many residents were grateful for the free services, with some discovering high blood pressure or elevated blood sugar levels during their checkups.

According to Dr Bakare, “people who came genuinely appreciated the free tests and consultations, even though we did not have enough people outside the plaza that attended. So, while the impact on individuals who attended was good, the overall awareness level wasn’t where we wanted it to be. It showed us clearly that we need stronger publicity next time. “However, the outreach was impactful following the one-on-one interactions between doctors and residents. At least those who attended now know their sugar and BP levels, being grateful they received free medical check up. It showed us that what we’re offering is actually needed, even if the crowd wasn’t large.

“Looking ahead, CrownBak Health plans to hold future events with improved strategies to reach a wider audience but with major adjustments. We’ll need better marketing, a longer runway for publicity, and more push outside the plaza. This experience taught us what didn’t work and where we need to tighten things up so that future events will have a bigger turnout and better reach”.
