FEC’s $4.29bn PPP backs C-River growth —Bisong

By Emmanuel Una

CALABAR— THE Chief Whip of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Mr Hilary Bisong, has said the Federal Executive Council’s, FEC’s, approval of over $4.29 billion in Public-Private Partnership, PPP, investments reinforces Cross River State’s strategic importance in Nigeria’s economic growth plans.

Reacting to the approval, Bisong described the decision as a clear signal of the Federal Government’s commitment to infrastructure development, private-sector–led investment, and sustainable economic planning.

The Assembly’s Chief Whip, in a statement, said the move aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that it reflects ongoing efforts to rebuild investor confidence, attract private capital, and reposition Nigeria as a competitive participant in global trade.

Bisong identified the Bakassi Deep Seaport as a key component of the approved PPP projects, describing it as a project of national and regional significance.

He said: “The deep-water port is designed to accommodate large commercial vessels, decongest existing ports, and strengthen Nigeria’s maritime and logistics capacity.

“The project is expected to stimulate industrial activities, enhance export competitiveness, and deepen Nigeria’s integration into global value chains.”

The Chief Whip commended Governor Bassey Otu for what he described as “consistent leadership and strategic alignment with national development priorities.”
