Jos – As the 2025 International Women’s Day, IWD is celebrated globally this weekend, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang and the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap have lauded women’s resilience, commending women in the State for the impacts they are making in building a virile society.

Governor Mutfwang, in a message to the Nigerian women and their counterparts elsewhere, saluted their courage, resilience, and determination saying the impact extends far beyond their families into public service, governance, business, and other key sectors.

The Governor, in a statement by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere emphasized that the 2025 International Women’s Day theme, “Accelerate Action,” underscores the need for inclusive decision-making at all levels and urgent interventions to combat gender-based violence, child labor, and sexual abuse.

“I have unwavering confidence in the girl child and the Nigerian woman. The future belongs to them. I believe in their strength, their abilities, and their vital role in our nation’s development. As a leader, I remain committed to supporting and empowering them to fulfill their aspirations,” he stated.

Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s strong commitment to promoting women’s participation in governance, recognizing their integrity, competence, and excellence in leadership and resource management.

He highlighted his deliberate inclusion of women in key positions within his government as part of efforts to actualize the 35% Affirmative Action for women’s representation.

Also, Ramnap, in a statement noted, “Today, we honour the unwavering strength, resilience, and limitless potential of the Plateau woman a force of change, a pillar of progress, and a driving engine of our society. As we celebrate the Day, it is not just a moment for reflection but a call to action. Women must boldly step forward, seize opportunities, and position themselves across all fields of human endeavour in leadership, business, governance, science, and beyond.

“As we mark this special day, let’s go beyond celebration let’s take action. Let’s accelerate efforts toward a society where every woman and girl has the freedom to dream, the power to achieve, and the platform to lead.”
