The Benue Investment and Property Company, BIPC, is to incorporate a Compressed Natural Gas, CNG conversion centre at its Makurdi petrol station currently being remodelled.
When completed the remodelled station would also provide CNG refilling services for cars powered by CNG.
The Corporate Communications Head of BIPC, Joyce Isiaku who made this known in a statement shortly after leading her team to access ongoing work at the station said work had already reached advanced stage at the station.
The statement noted that “significant progress has been made in upgrading the facility, with structural modifications nearing completion and the maintenance of underground tanks underway.
“The initiative is part of Governor Hyacinth Alia, the President Bola Tinubu and the Managing Director of BIPC, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha’s commitment to supporting sustainable energy solutions and reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuel.
“The new CNG conversion centre when completed will enable vehicle owners to transition from petrol and diesel to CNG, an environmentally friendly and cost-effective fuel option.
“The project aligns with the Federal Government’s push for alternative fuel adoption in Nigeria, aiming to lower carbon emissions and reduce transportation costs for businesses and individuals.
“Once completed, the remodeled filling station will not only serve as a refueling hub for CNG users but also offer conversion services for those looking to modify their vehicles for CNG use. The initiative is expected to boost economic activities, create job opportunities, and encourage a cleaner environment in Benue State.”
