ABUJA – The Movement for the Survival of the Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has commended the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for fostering unity among ethnic groups and delivering significant socioeconomic progress in the region.

The organization hailed the NDDC’s current leadership for their inclusive approach, which has restored public confidence in the commission and set the tone for sustained development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

At a stakeholder engagement session held in Warri, Delta State, Ambassador Kennedy Tonjo West, President of MOSIEND, lauded the board’s achievements under the leadership of Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the NDDC Managing Director.

The session highlighted the board’s efforts to address longstanding challenges in the region through infrastructural development, human capital investment, and youth empowerment initiatives.

He said, “The NDDC’s performance reflects President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, and it has restored the faith of the Niger Delta people in the commission’s mandate. One can only hope that those who take delight in obstructing meaningful development of the Niger Delta region will take a break this time around and allow the dream of the commission to come through.

“A major plus for the Ogbuku-led administration is the setting up of the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines, and Agriculture (NDCCITMA) in the course of the year. This singular feat, designed to foster economic growth and peace in the oil-rich region, seeks to engage youths in meaningful ventures and promote entrepreneurship through structured support from the NDCCITMA.

“For the first time, ethnic nationalities in the Niger Delta are united in their support for the NDDC. This is a testament to the inclusive approach of the current leadership.

“I urge Mr. President to take the board very seriously and approve every facility needed to bring the Renewed Hope agenda more expediently in the region. MOSIEND is not a partisan organization, but the passion and unwavering commitment of the NDDC board and this high level of performance tempt us to say that Mr. President might clinch the whole region should he throw in the hat to contest.

“The state governors are making very good efforts as well. We believe if they deepen collaboration, putting aside party sentiments, the region will record tremendous achievements in the government.

“The harmonious relationship among board members and their engagement with various stakeholders encourage stakeholders to see themselves as co-laborers. This goes a long way to building trust and progress in the region.”
