The Iseyin community in Oyo State has sought the consultation of divination to find solutions to the economic challenges currently plaguing Nigeria.

As citizens face rising costs and diminished purchasing power, community leaders are turning to their rich cultural heritage for guidance and spiritual intervention.

The Oluwo Aseyin of Iseyin, High Chief Fasola Olusoji Adeyemi, made this known on Sunday, while announcing the Oworin-Aseyin Week, scheduled for October 28 to November 3, 2024.

The annual festival, according to him, is aimed at invoking ancestral wisdom and seek divine solutions to the pressing economic issues affecting the community and the nation at large.

He said the Oworin-Aseyin Ifa festival, comparable to the Ose-Meji of Ibadan, serves as a crucial opportunity for reflection and spiritual appeasement.

Adeyemi disclosed that during this week, participants will engage in rituals at thirty-nine different shrines, including the prominent Oworin-Aseyin temple.

He said the rituals are specifically designed to address the economic hardships that have impacted many families, as well as to seek protection and stability for the community.

Chief Adeyemi emphasised the importance of this festival, stating, “We are not merely celebrating our heritage; we are actively seeking solutions to the economic turmoil that has affected our people.”

“Our prayers will focus on healing our community and restoring hope for a better future.”

Meanwhile, the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola, equally expressed his support for the festival, encouraging all indigenes, whether at home or in the Diaspora abroad, to participate in the prayers for Nigeria and Oyo State.

“This is a time for unity and collective action. As the Oworin-Aseyin Week approaches, the Iseyin community has prepared to honour our traditions while seeking both spiritual guidance and practical solutions to navigate the current economic landscape.”

“With a strong commitment to our heritage, the people of Iseyin remain hopeful for divine intervention in our quest for a brighter future,” he remarked.
