An unknown driver on Friday hit an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, while on duty in Osun State.

It was gathered that the victim was on regular road duty on Friday morning, when the vehicle, heading towards Gbongan, approached him and another officer.

An eye witness, Salam Ademola explained that other officers on sighting the car and noticing the speed with which the driver approached them ran for their lives while the victim did not leave the road early in an attempt to stop the driver.

His words, “Other officers upon sighting the car and the speed the driver was on, quickly ran to safety but the officer that was knocked down waited believing that the driver would stop.

“Unfortunately when he decided to run for safety, it was a bit too late as the car knocked him off the road and drag him few meters from the scene. The driver did not stop despite knocking down the officer”.

Reacting, Osun State FRSC sector commander, Inyang Umoh said the officer is in stable condition while the sector is making effort to arrest the run away driver.

His words, “The officer is in stable condition. “We are making efforts to get him (the driver of the vehicle). He has not been arrested.”
