Omobayo

THE chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Prince Kayode Ogunnubi, has described as selfish, some politicians calling for the removal of the Deputy Governor, Marvellous Omobayo before they could work for the party ahead of the coming governorship election.
The Legacy Group of the PDP, in their meeting in Irrua, Edo Central, a few days ago called for the removal of Omobayo claiming that he was not a member of the PDP as of the time he was picked and sworn-in as the deputy governor of the state.
Ogunnubi, in a statement, said the group of people behind the call were failed politicians, who lack the legitimacy and trust to speak for the good people of Akoko-Edo describing them as “a faceless and attention seeking faction of the PDP in Edo North.”
He said that the Deputy Governor’s adversaries are “in obvious panic mode following the overwhelming commendation and jubilation across the state” adding that Omobayo’s emergence as deputy governor of the state has ushered in fresh hope with sense of belonging to Edo North and Akoko-Edo in particular.
He listed the prominent leaders of Edo North who have expressed satisfaction with the choice of Omobayo as deputy governor to include former Deputy Governor of Edo State and former Chief of Staff to President Goodluck Jonathan, Mike Ogiadomhe; Sen. Victor Oyofo; Sen. Yisa Braimoh; Edo Assembly Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, and Yekini Idaiye.
