Crawford University matriculates 565 students out of 1.6m applications

Crawford University, Igbese, Ogun state, held its 19th matriculation ceremony over the weekend, during which 359 undergraduate students were officially admitted out of 1.6 million applicants. In addition, 159 students were admitted into part-time programs, and 47 students into post-graduate studies.

The Vice Chancellor of Crawford University, Prof. Reuben Kolo, delivered a strong call to action to the newly admitted students, emphasizing that their success would solely depend on their efforts and dedication.

“As a University student, you are in charge of the outcome you wish to have within the next three or four years of your studentship in this Community,” said Prof. Kolo. “I urge you strongly to resolve within you that you will be a candidate of Crawford University that your parents and relatives will be proud of. Please note that you must be alert to the forces and influences around you in order not to fall prey to the negative forces and influences. You are advised to cultivate the habit of organizing your day-to-day activities to achieve your academic goals.”

Prof. Kolo also emphasized the importance of purposefulness and hard work to the students. He stated that Crawford University was a centre of excellence and that they should work tirelessly to achieve academic success.
Part-time students were also addressed during the ceremony, with Prof. Kolo highlighting the advantages of combining work and education. “Part-time studies offer the exceptional advantage of combining work and education, which enables you to gain from theory and practice while earning a living,” he said.

Finally, post-graduate students were reminded of the importance of hard work and dedication in their academic pursuits.

“Postgraduate studies are the zenith of academic endeavours, and they demand hard work and dedication,” said Prof. Kolo. “You are required to identify and solve socio-economic and management challenges of society, develop entrepreneurial skills and innovation to create jobs and eradicate poverty, and equip yourself with knowledge and skills for global best practices that will make you stand out and relevant in life.”

In closing, the Vice Chancellor of Crawford University reiterated the importance of taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the school, including knowledge acquisition, infrastructural improvements, and advancements in technology. He called on all students to strive for excellence and become the best they can be.
