Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen forward, Victor Boniface has reacted after picking up an injury that is set to rule him out of AFCON 2023, which starts in a few days.

Boniface missed Nigeria’s pre-tournament friendly games against Abu Dhabi-based side Al Ghariba and Guinea due to a groin injury.

The 23-year-old has been exceptional for Xabi Alonso’s team, with 16 goals scored in all competitions so far this season.

In a post on X on Monday, Boniface shared his picture with the caption:

“U20 Nations Cup got injured 7 days before Nations Cup.

“Super Eagles got injured 6 days before Nations cup

“Na Only GOD Knows why”

In an earlier post on Instagram, Boniface wrote, “Good luck guys…..Wish you guys all the best at AFCON.”

Boniface’s injury is the second major blow for the Super Eagles in a bid to win the AFCON for the fourth time, following the withdrawal of Leicester City’s midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who suffered a muscle injury that could rule him out for three months.

Ndidi has since been replaced with Royal Antwerp’s Alhassan Yusuf.
