Akomas

A former deputy governor of Abia state, Chris Akomas, has called on all governors and their deputies in Nigeria to ensure partnership and foster growth in their respective states.
Akomas, who also doubles as the Chairman of the Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria, FFDGN, made the call at the 2023 National Conference of the FFDGN in Abuja.
According to him, “The relationship between a governor and his deputy should be that of partnership because the essence is that they have both come together to serve the people. The key thing here is the goal and what is the goal, the goal is service. And what is this service, to deliver good governance to the people.
“In all, the focus should be the general good of the people. Where there is peace, understanding and tolerance they can be able to work together and deliver. Where there are quarrels, things cannot work well.
“That partnership must be there by whatever means. It should be a symbiotic relationship. The synergy should be that of dropping whatever personal ego and focus on that service. If we must make things better we must work together and if we must work together there must be peace and if there is peace we can deliver”.
On the importance of the forum, Akomas said, “We are leveraging on our past experiences and saying to the present deputy governors that these are the things we saw and discovered, and should be looked at differently and the need to drop off somethings.
“Our focus is not to bemoan the past and the crises that has existed. We are looking at new ways, strategy and solutions that can take us to where we want to be”.
