A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adaku Ogbu-Aguocha, has applauded President Bola Tinubu for the removal of fuel subsidy and also thanked the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, for calling off their proposed strikes over the matter.

In a statement, yesterday, she opined that the removal of the subsidy would have far reaching positive impact on the economy and Nigerians in general.

“A situation where we spend trillions on fuel subsidy, and only a fraction of that amount on

developmental projects on education, healthcare and human capacity development, is not sustainable and is detrimental to our economic growth and productivity as a nation.”

Also hailing the national labour unions for promptly calling off their planned strike, she argued that the decision would, for once, put labour and the Federal Government on the same pace, and make it much easier for them to work together and rebuild the ailing economy.

Hear her: “I must commend the labour unions for giving listening ear to the government to call off the strike and, for the first time in a long while, government and labour will work together to find lasting solutions to the country’s ailing economy, which will ultimately bring wealth and prosperity to all Nigerians.”
