Nigerian fast-raising Afro-Pop sensation Ekeh Chiaka Joseph, who goes by Majeeed, recently signed a record deal with Dream Empire Music, and released ‘Time’.
The singer sat with J. Ayo Makinde and Alero Edu over the weekend on Channel’s TV Sunrise show, he spoke about his early life, and said, “He solely produced ‘Time’, at Harrysong house”.
He began his musical journey as a songwriter, voiceover artist and backup act to a lot of Nigerian celebrities, including Seyi Shay.
Majeeed said he is working with her on her next studio album, at the songwriting bootcamp. During our conversations, he said.
The singer hails from Imo State, and grew up between Lagos and Ogun State, where he discovered his passion for singing.
On Sunrise show, he said “I started music, while I was in secondary school; HMM; in JSS2, that time I use to kolobi my mom’s money to go to the studio, and just make music.”
The singer was first seen on DJ Xclusive’s The XFiles EP Session1, where he made appearance on the EP in 2020, and Jay Pizzle’s Voltage EP in 2021, before signing with D.M.E. During our conversation he said, “I can’t wait to start shutting down shows in the country, as I have always been the guy behind the stage, watching most of the artists I wrote for, perform my work and it’s amazing seeing the crowd sing along.” He later said, “My next single #YNDE, will seal it all up, by putting my sound out there .”
