APC knows the game’s over— PDP chieftain

By Ochuko Akuopha

OLEH—AS mixed reactions continue to trail the postponement of the presidential and National Assembly elections, a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Dr. Nelson Ejakpovi has said that the All Progressive Congress, APC, was aware that the game was over, saying it would concede defeat in the forthcoming poll as the PDP did in 2015.

Reacting to the postponement of the polls at Emevor, Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State, Ejakpovi said that the PDP was consoled by the fact that it would win the polls anytime the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was prepared to conduct the elections.

He said: “The postponement could have been made to elicit violent reactions, but we are Nigerians; our elasticity to be patient and calm cannot be exhausted. Our eyes are fixed on the goal because the hour has come.

“Our greatest consolation is in the fact that on May 29, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will be sworn-in as our President and our Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa will take oath of office for second term as governor till 2023.

“The elections must hold and any time INEC is ready, we shall all vote for our candidates, the candidates of the PDP, our umbrella party.

“Our governor, Okowa, is a man of peace, so let us be peaceful and hold on to our permanent voter’s cards.

“Members of APC are aware that the game is over. They are afraid, but we are all Nigerians; the interest of the nation supersedes personal interests. They will concede defeat just as the PDP did in 2015.”
