AWKA—MINISTER of Labour and Productivity, Senator Chris Ngige, his brother and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Mr. Emeka Ngige and former Director-General of Bureau for Public Enterprises, BPE, Mr. Emeka Eze were among seven prominent old boys honoured at the diamond jubilee of St. John’s College, Alor in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State at the weekend.

Others who received awards at the well attended ceremony were Dr. Cyprian Afunugo, who is the president of the school’s old boys association, Chief Peter Okafor, Chief Nnamdi Okoye and Chief S.M.Ugochukwu, a retired director in the Federal Ministry of Education.

Some outstanding students of the school in Mathematics and sciences were also awarded scholarships as part of the jubilee celebration.

Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke, who doubles as the proprietor of the college, commended the founding fathers for “their moral discipline and academic excellence which the school was noted for” and urged the present generation of teachers and students to sustain the good work.
