As you turn away from all forms of sinful desires, pleasures and acts that displease God, you are to turn to Jesus for cleansing and pardon. The instant you take that decision, the light of God will shine upon you while the darkness that emanates from Satan will be shattered.
The life of a sinner is like that thick dark soot smoke coming out from the chimney on a house top, which cannot be missed by passersby. Nobody can cover a life sooted in sin. Though you may use a smile, a dress and or a perfume to disguise certain things, but sin cannot be covered. It may be hidden from human beings, who have eyes but cannot see; yet God who gave us the eyes sees and knows all things. He knows that you are a sinner because when you commit the very act, He sees you. So, do not ever think that you can cover up your sins before God.
In fact, it is an insult on the all seeing God for you to think that you can cover anything from Him. That sin in your life, after it must have pitched you against God, will attract His divine judgment upon your life. But if you want the favour of God to shine upon you, then you have to confess your evil deeds before God and ask for His mercies. This is because the scriptures says in Proverbs 28:13 “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
After you have turned your back against the world of sin, the next step is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Acts 16:30-31 “And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
Believe that Jesus left His throne in heaven and died for you at the cross so that He will take a sin clad peasant like you to a prosperous kingdom which money cannot buy. Immediately you possess that be-lieving mindset on Jesus, and call upon His name, you will be saved.
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” The saving grace of God does not discriminate against race, colour and or creed. The grace of God covers the entire radius of the whole universe. This means that any person, who decides to call upon the name of Jesus, at any point in time, and in any place, within the universe, shall be completely saved from his or her sins.
Jesus is the light of God that drives away the darkness of sin in the life of mankind. When you receive Him, you obtain life to light up the world through the Light of God.
The last in the triumvirate is continue. What if you switch on the main circuit breaker panel in your home, but as the light shines on your apartment, you deliberately hit the off button? Darkness will return again! What if while your refrigerator is about to cool those perishable items you stockpiled in the fridge you decide to switch it off, the cooling system will automatically stop; and the items you could have preserved will eventually be-come useless and worthless.
What if you take the step of believing in Christ, but after few hours or days, few weeks or months and or few years you decide to switch Him off; and if you do not connect with Him any longer, the darkness will return. Nobody will be comfortable in a home that is literally dark; and the life which God has given to us is worth more than a home. If we love this life and you really want to live this life, then you have to love Jesus Christ so that your life will be lovely.
The announcement I have for you today is that Jesus has not changed from His nature of goodness. The scriptures in Hebrews 13:8, describes Him as: “…the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” When you come to Jesus, He will do you good. If you make up your mind and come to Him today, He will definitely do you and your family good. The instant you receive Jesus, the mercies and goodness of God will know no bound in your life, because the plan of God for your life will come to fulfilment. That can only happen when you repent from your sins.
Acts 2:37-38 “Now when they heard this, they were prick-ed in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
To repent simply means to turn around. For instance, you are travelling along a thoroughfare, a road open at both ends, and the route to your left, in which you are at, the direction is fraught with danger and dark-ness, without any hope of survival. But behind you is the other route which has a bright prospect, with a visible shining light stationed to direct your pathway. At this critical moment in your life, if you do love your life, as I believe that you do, you do not need a second opinion to turn the steering wheel control of your life to the side that brings relief and comfort.
