DUTSE— Jigawa State government has introduced competition among the 14 local government areas benefitting from SHÀWN projects for an award of Open Defecation Free, ODF.

Managing Director of Rural and Urban Water Supply,  Labaran Adamu, who disclosed this in Dutse, yesterday, said any local government that came first in the Open Defecation Free, ODF, competition would be considered winner, adding that the gesture was aimed at enhancing environmental health condition of their localities.

Government,  according to him, has constructed a lot of public conveniences at motorparks, markets and other public places.

He called on private developers to compliment government’s effort through construction of more, with a view to also generating funds.
