The Deputy President, Nigerian Guild of Editors, Suleiman Gaya, was, weekend, attacked by robbers on the Gwarinpa By-Pass, Abuja.
The robbers stripped Gaya and his wife of their possessions before disappearing through a dark alley, saying they will return to kill the couple if they raise the alarm.
Narrating his experience yesterday, Gaya said: “I offered no resistance to the gun-totting young men. And God so kind, none of us was injured.
“A taxi driver summoned the courage to stop and help us. As he was driving us to the Gwarinpa Division of the Nigeria Police Force, we saw a patrol vehicle and the policemen promptly followed us to the scene of the crime, where my car was still parked.
“All efforts by the Police personnel to trace the robbers proved abortive.”
While appreciating the efforts of the two policemen, Inspector Takai and Sergeant Kanu Ajah, for their prompt response, he urged the Commissioner of Police, FCT, to do something about the by-pass, which is becoming notorious for robbery.
