Son of ex-PDP Chair, Bilyamin Bello, allegedly killed by his wife, buried

Bilyamin Bello, 35, son of Haliru Bello, a former Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was buried, yesterday, according to Islamic rites in Abuja, after prayers at the National Mosque.

He was allegedly killed in his Maitama home in Abuja by his wife, Maryam Sanda, the daughter of Maimuna Aliyu, former Aso Saving Bank executive.

Bello’s father was Acting Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees from 2015 to 2016; Minister of Defence from 2011 to 2012, and Minister of Communications from 2001 to 2003.

According to reports, Maryam allegedly killed her husband Saturday night, stabbing him several times.

Multiple reports online said she attacked her husband based on allegations of infidelity after seeing a text message on his phone.

The couple had a daughter together.

The Public Relations Officer of the FCT Police Command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, disclosed yesterday in Abuja, that it is investigating the death of Bilyamin Bello.

Manzah said immediately Maitama Police Division received the information about the death, it went to the scene and arrested the suspect.

He explained that the FCT Command had since taken over the case from Maitama Division, and that the suspect was in its custody.

According to him, investigation was ongoing and the case would be charged to court and “justice will take its course.”
