ABUJA – The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has lost its Director, Corps Mobilization, Chief Frank Ekpunobi (FNIM)

This was announced on Tuesday in a statement by the NYSC Acting Director of Press and Public Relations, Adeyemi Adenike (Mrs)

The statement reads: “With deep sense of loss, the Director General National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Suleiman Zakari Kazaure, Management and the entire NYSC Family regret to announce the transition of Chief Frank Ekpunobi FNIM, who until his demise was the Director, Corps Mobilization, National Youth Service Corps, National Directorate Headquarters, Abuja.”

It added that “Chief Frank Ekpunobi was a great asset to the scheme and will be remembered for his sense of diligence, discipline, commitment and loyalty to the organization. He will be sorely missed.”

Vanguard learnt that the details of the funeral rites of Chief Frank Ekpunobi, who died on Friday, 3rd November 2017, have not been announced.

Ekpunobi, a 1984 graduate of Sociology/Anthropology, University of Nigeria, Nsukka joined the National Youth Service Corps in 1986 as Inspector 2. He had brilliant career in the Public Service, rising steadily on the job and by dint of hard work, attained the position of substantive Director on 1st January, 2015.

Prior to his elevation to the pinnacle of his career, Ekpunobi had functioned as Head of secretariat, National Governing Board; Head of Administration, office of the Director General, National Youth Service Corps; State Coordinator, NYSC Secretariat, Kogi; as well as Coordinator, NYSC FCT Secretariat, Abuja.

Meanwhile, the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN) has paid a condolence visit to the Director-General of NYSC over the death of Chief Frank Okey Ekpunobi.

The Board, while commiserating with the Management and staff of the NYSC scheme, eulogised late Chief Ekpunobi for his sterling qualities.

According to the Director of Human Resource Department of the Board, Abdulmalik Saidu, who led a delegation to the NYSC Headquarters, the late Ekpunobi was a dedicated and hard working staff.

He prayed that God should grant the entire NYSC family and the Ekpunobis the fortitude to bear the loss.

“We are here to express our heartfelt sympathy over the death of our Director, we pray that Allah grant him eternal rest,” he said.

Saidu also presented a condolence letter to General Kazaure on behalf of the board.

In his response, NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, commended the board for the visit.

He described late Chief Ekpunobi as a staff who was committed to the ideals of NYSC Scheme and would be missed for his tremendous contributions to the scheme.
