The Federal Government says it is setting up One Stop Crisis Centre for female victims of violence.

The Director General of the National Center for Women Development, Mary Ekpere Eta, who disclosed when she hosted students in Abuja to mark the International Day of the Girl-Child, also said government planned to set up Business Support Services to provide take-off base for students of its Vocational Skills Programmes and for women that want to set up businesses.

“To support more opportunities for the girl child, especially those in the rural areas and those who were not opportune to go to school, we are planning on setting up six Women Development Centres to make it easier for them to access projects and programmes set up by government to better their living conditions”, she said.

On the programmes for the girl-child, the DG said, “We have several programmes for girl child. Recently we introduced workshop center which will take care of girls and women who suffered violence. We have psychologist, we have prosecutors, we have the health sectors to counsel them and bring them back to the society.”
