CALABAR—Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, Mr. John Gaul-Lebo, has assured that the ongoing process for the amendment of the country’s constitution will guarantee autonomy for local governments and state Houses of Assembly.
Gaul-Lebo, who is the Secretary, Ad-hoc Committee of Speakers’ Forum facilitating the amendment of the constitution, spoke to Vanguard in Calabar, yesterday.
He said the forum met in Yola a few weeks ago on how to facilitate the processes of achieving the constitutional amendment across the 36 states.
He added that the committee’s objective was to create a framework, coordinate and assist the Houses of Assembly to conduct public hearing and voting process.
He explained that after the process, all resolutions will be collated and transmitted to the National Assembly within a given period.
