We’re not PDP stooges —Enugu APC

By Dennis Agbo

ENUGU–—All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State has disclosed that it was not in any form of alliance with  the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state nor are its leaders stooges of the PDP.

The party said its members should discountance information making the rounds in the state that some of its leaders were in the state government’s payroll  and disposed to the state PDP-led government machinations.

Chairman of APC in the state, Dr. Ben Nwoye, who made the clarification in a press briefing in his office, yesterday, said the clarification became necessary as local government  elections approach in the state.

Nwoye said the party had noted hatchet writings in the media, suggesting that APC leaders in the state were not opposed to the PDP government but have been subjected into the whims and caprices of the ruling party in the state.

“It’s a campaign of calummy by PDP against APC members in Enugu state. The campaign has been sustained by the PDP, which hired writers to suggest that APC leaders in the state have passed vote of confidence on PDP,” Nwoye said.

He stated that for the fact that Governor  Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi gave reception for an ambassador appointed from his state, did not suggest that APC and PDP were now one in the state.

“They only want to damage the reputation of our leaders in the state. They are suggesting that our leaders have endorsed PDP but there is a clear distinction between the two political parties. We will compare both parties in due time.

“When former PDP members in the state defected to APC, it was clear what they were doing. It would be unfair to upbraid our members because some of them have personal relationship with Governor Ugwuanyi,” Nwoye stated.
