EXPECTATION that Chief Osita Chidoka would reap from the former crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is facing serious challenges as party chieftains begin to rally around the party’s candidate, Oseloka Obaze.
Chidoka, a former chieftain of the PDP defected to the UPP on the fear that the crisis in the PDP would not allow the PDP present a formidable front in the governorship election. However, the court judgment that legitimised the Ahmed Makarfi led tendency has had the positive effect of foisting an unusual discipline in the PDP.
Even more, the appointment of Prof. ABC Nwosu as the chairman of the state caretaker committee and ably assisted by some of the state’s credible personalities has raised prospects for the party. Chidoka was believed to have been receiving the support of some of his friends in the PDP even though he had left the party for the UPP.
However, with the new sense of unity and purpose in the party, the expectation of such support continuing has been put to question. Chidoka was a former chief executive of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC before his appointment as the Minister of Aviation.
