YOLA—THE killing of two Boko Haram top commanders by hunters in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamwa State has been greeted with jubilation and has compelled the state government to announce financial and logistic support to the group.
The state’s Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. Ahmed Sajoh, told newsmen in Yola that the feat received wide accolade, saying government will reciprocate the gesture through provision of logistic support.
Sajoh spoke after the weekly State Executive Council meeting that reviewed the incessant attacks on villages in Madagali council.
The hunters had repelled an attack by Boko Haram on Bakin Dutse and Gadamayo villages in Madagali, killing two top insurgents commander in the process.
Locals said the insurgents attacked Gadamayo and Bakin Dutse to steal food and medical supplies after residents fled to the bush, but were repelled by the hunters.
Spokesman of the hunters, Ali Hammajabu, said: “One of the dead Boko Haram commanders was wearing a vest that belonged to one of our famous commander, Bukar Jimeta, who was killed by the insurgents recently.”
